Nanotailor produces SWNTs without the use of a metal catalyst utilizing a unique patented plasma enhanced CVD process. Thereby reducing post production treatments and keeping the molecules core carbon structure intact.
Competitive Advantage
The technology is straightforward, inexpensive and scalable. Other processes require high cost reactors, high cost reactants, and high costs catalysts.
Open system – Does not require sealed chambers, making automation and mass production easier.
No metal catalyst – This saves time and money as there is no need to boil nanotubes in acid to remove the metal catalyst. Acid treatment add to the costs by adding another step in the purification and the problem of getting rid of the acid.
Better yields – This process produces higher yields with consistency, capable of being purified to 99%.
Easy Separation – Nanotubes produced are functionalized with OH groups that makes them soluble in acetone and alcohols. Impurities are not soluble so it is easier to obtain 99% pure SWCNT's by separating the soluble fraction from impurities.
Easy Integration – Soluble nanotubes are better for the incorporation into resins and polymers for better, stronger composites. Other nanotubes need to be reacted chemically after synthesis in able to make them soluble. Nanotailor's nanotubes do not require such a step.
Better Performance – These nannotubes have a higher degradation temperature 650 degrees celcius.
