Nanotailor produces SWNTs without the use of a metal catalyst utilizing a unique patented plasma enhanced CVD process. Thereby reducing post production treatments and keeping the molecules core carbon structure intact.

Problem / Solution

The Problem

Carbon nanotubes have unique physical and electrical properties. Of all carbon nanotubes single walled carbon nanotubes (SWNT) have the most preferred mechanical and electrical properties.   However there are limiting factors that inhibit their adoption and integration within industrial and biomedical materials and consumer products such as baseball bats, semiconductors, golf clubs, protective coatings, and solar cells. These limitations include cost, purity, consistency, capacity, and lead time.

The Solution

By utlizing its trade secrets and patented technology it has licensed from the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA), Nanotailor is working to manufacture SWNT having a consistent purity greater than 95% at a cost per gram significantly less than currently market rates.   Nanotailor is working towards the commercialization of a new set of processes and the building of custom manufacturing equipment that will enable scalable manufacturing of SWCNT overcoming all of the aforementioned limitations.
